Triple Assessment
This is the standard breast assessment pathway, combining three key methods to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
The doctor will discuss your health and symptoms, then physically examine your breasts and armpits to check for any unusual lumps or changes.
This involves scans such as ultrasound or mammography, allowing the doctor to see inside the breast tissue, locate and assess the features of any areas of concern.
When a suspicious lesion is detected, cells or tissue samples are obtained via fine needle or core biopsy for analysis under a microscope. This is the key step to confirm the diagnosis.
