Paediatric Physiotherapy

The physiotherapy centre at HKSH offers assessments and short-term/long-term interventions for infants, children and adolescents from birth to 18 years of age. Our multidisciplinary team takes a holistic approach to maximise every child’s physical potential. We achieve this through individually tailored programmes that enhance muscle strength, joint mobility, motor function, balance and coordination skills in fun and creative ways.

Our paediatrics service covers, but is not limited to, the following conditions:

Developmental delays and neurological conditions 

Examples:

  • Premature babies
  • Down syndrome
  • Learning disabilities
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)
  • Cerebral Palsy 
     

Our physiotherapy service provides standardised motor assessments and tailored interventions for infants to adolescents.

 

The treatments may include the following:

  • A home activity programme and advice on your child’s daily caring. You will be asked to perform it at home with your child
  • Stretching and joint mobilisation exercises to manage any deformities/tightness and to maximise their full functions over the long term

Orthopaedics conditions

  • Mouth breathing/ sleep apnea
  • Scoliosis
  • Talipes
  • Torticollis
  • Pectus Carinatum
  • Post fracture
  • Post-surgical conditions (e.g. spinal fusion)
  • Sports injuries
  • Poor postures
  • Idiopathic toe walking

Respiratory problems

  • Chest infections
