In response to the rising demand for urological services in Hong Kong, HKSH opened the Urology Centre in 2007. The aim of the Centre is to provide comprehensive urological services that include both general urology and specialised urological services.
The urologists of the Urology Centre provide in-patient care and out-patient follow up for patients with different urological conditions. The most common urological conditions include the following: prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testis cancer, ureter cancer, kidney stones, bladder stones, ureteric stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia, cystitis, prostatitis, balanitis, hematuria, nocturia, dysuria, urinary frequency, urinary retention, urinary tract infection, male infertility.
Services
Uroflowmetry and Bladder Scan
Uroflowmetry is a non-invasive test that measures the flow rate and volume of voided urine. Bladder scan helps to measure post-voiding residual urine volume.
Urodynamic Study
A urodynamic study is a bladder function test to assess the function of the bladder by simulating the process of natural bladder filling and emptying.
Technology
The Urology Department is equipped with an upgraded robotic surgical system – the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System – which allows surgeons to perform complex minimally invasive surgeries, especially for prostate cancers. Other minimally invasive surgery equipment is available for endoscopic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the latest robotic surgery procedures. A full range of urological investigations is also available at the Hospital, together with comprehensive care for most urological problems.
