Therapeutic Bronchoscopy
Therapeutic Bronchoscopy is a procedure to treat benign and malignant airway obstruction. These procedures can be performed with flexible bronchoscopy under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia:
- Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC) is an electrosurgical, noncontact thermal ablation technique that use argon gas to Cauterise and Devitalise tissue and/ or achieve hemostasis
- Cryotherapy for employing extremely low temperatures to freeze tissue for destruction (cryoablation) or biopsy (cryobiopsy)
- Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction (BLVR) : by using one-way endobronchial valve or endobronchial steam/vapor to shrink the damaged lobe/ segment to enhance lung function and quality of life
- Placement of Fiducial Markers for guiding Cyberknife a radiotherapy to cancerous spots in patients with lung cancer or metastatic lesion
