Root Canal Treatment
Teeth fractured by an accident, trauma or severe tooth decay can lead to acute toothache or severe pain if bacteria enter the pulp (the soft tissue chamber inside the tooth) and infect the nerves. During root canal treatment, the dentist removes the bacteria, nerves and infected tissues from the tooth pulp. The pulp chamber is then filled with an inert medication to permanently seal the tooth, salvaging it from extraction.
