Resting Electrocardiogram (ECG)

A resting electrocardiogram (ECG) is a graphic representation of the heart's electrical activity, detected by electrodes placed on the body's surface. It can provide preliminary evidence of abnormalities such as myocardial infarction, hypertrophy (heart muscle enlargement), arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm), electrolyte imbalances, or drug-induced effects. Therefore, a resting ECG is an indispensable basic assessment for suspected cardiac disorders and rhythm disturbances. It can also be used as a baseline screening test or pre-operative assessment.
