Tennis Elbow/Golfer's Elbow

Cause

Repeated, strong impacts on the muscle group in the front arm can cause the muscles to contract. It may lead to tendon inflammation or tearing of the inner or outer epicondyle of the humerus (long bone in the upper arm) near the elbow joint. This injury usually occurs when playing tennis and golf.

Symptoms

The torn tendons may be swollen and painful, hindering elbow joint movement. You may not able to hold a pen or lift objects.

Treatment

Rest/stop exercising. Injections of pain medication or, in more severe cases, surgery to loosen the tendons.

High-Risk Sports

Tennis, Golf, Badminton
