Refractive surgeries are designed to alter the corneal curvature or change the lens power to allow light rays to focus on or near the retina, thus improving vision. Currently, the most commonly performed refractive surgery is called LASIK, for correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital is the first hospital in Hong Kong to employ LASIK surgery techniques.
