How is it performed?

  1. The surgery could be done by topical anaesthesia or other types of anaesthesia.
  2. Place a speculum to hold the lids apart.
  3. Use a diamond blade to create a small corneal incision.
  4. Use ultrasonic suction probe to break up and remove the natural lens from the lens capsule.
  5. Insert artificial lens into the lens capsule.
  6. Usually no suture or only one suture is required to close the wound. If suturing is required, it can be removed 1 to 4 weeks after surgery.
  7. Apply antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops.
