FAQ
1. How do I feel during the procedure?
If the procedure is done under topical anaesthesia, eye drops and eye
gel will be used to make your eyes less sensitive. If the procedure
is done under monitored anaesthetic care (MAC), you will not feel any
discomfort during the procedure.
2. Can I play sports
after having lens exchange?
You can resume most normal activities after 1 week after surgery. You
should stop swimming for 1 month. Goggles should be worn whenever you
swim. Also avoid activities such as contact sports (e.g. basketball,
football, etc.) for several weeks.
3. Is lens exchange
safe?
Just as with any surgical procedure, there are potential complications
but these are very rare, and most complications can be properly treated
by our doctors. Therefore good vision can still be achieved.
4. Will I still have
to wear reading glasses?
As the procedure usually results in a loss of natural accommodation
ability for reading fine print, reading glasses may be prescribed in
order to read fine print after the procedure. Reading glasses may not
be required if a multifocal lens is implanted.
5. Is the procedure
reversible?
The lens removal is not reversible but lens implant can be removed
or replaced, but the need of doing so is extremely rare.
