Possible Complications
Intraoperative
Serious complications are very rare during
laser surgery. The epithelium of the cornea is painlessly
lifted and this layer usually grows back very rapidly,
being completely restored in 4 to 5 days.
Post-operative
It is common to experience some initial irritation or
pain and light sensitivity following laser surgery. Both symptoms
generally resolve quickly. Infection may occur but extremely
rare. Even if it develops, infection can be treated effectively
with medications. Other possible complications including corneal
haze, corneal scarring, induced astigmatism, visual fluctuation,
de-centered ablation, halos, over or under correction, but
they are rare and treatable with medication or further surgery.
