During Pregnancy - Becoming Parents Class
Becoming Parents Class includes 6 sessions conducted by experienced specialists in obstetrics and paediatrics, nurse-midwives, physiotherapists and dietitians.

The contents include:

Psychology, physical health and personal hygiene during pregnancy

Exercises during pregnancy and after birth

Food and nutrition

Procedures of hospital admission and delivery

Complications during pregnancy and delivery

Postnatal care and common problems of newborns

Newborn care and breastfeeding

Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm every Tuesday (except public holidays)
Place: Hospital Auditorium, 4/F, Li Shu Pui Block
Fee: HK$1,200 per couple (6 sessions)

Prenatal Exercise Class
Individual instruction on prenatal exercises by registered physiotherapists is available. Regular exercise can help to minimize the physical discomforts of pregnancy. The Department of Physiotherapy has devised a series of exercises suitable for Asian women during pregnancy. Exercises help increase muscle strength and flexibility, improve blood circulation, facilitate a smooth delivery and speed up recovery after the baby is born.

Breastfeeding Class
According to scientific research, breast milk is the best milk for babies with adequate nutrients and antibodies to protect the baby against potential infections. In the Breastfeeding Class, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant teaches breastfeeding instructions and solutions to breastfeeding problems. Prospective mothers can practise simulated breastfeeding under guidance.

Prenatal Diagnostic Tests
Prenatal evaluation, including ultrasound and amniocentesis, is available at the Hospital for prospective mothers. Doctors may make bookings to perform the tests. Charges apply.
