危重病護理學課程 (Critical Care Course)
Course Aims:
The course serves as a comprehensive reference for clinical practice. It blends theoretical concepts with clinical practice, physiology with pathophysiology, to enable nurses to practise as competent and safe critical care nurses.

Course Content:
The course content has been designed to cover the major organ systems, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, gastrointestinal, endocrine, burns and hematological system. Most of the course is in the form of lectures, some of which have demonstrations, and there are workshops to supplement the lectures.

3 term tests (30%) and a written examination (70%) to be held 2 weeks after the end of the course

Course Aims:

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participants should:
- be able to deliver competent total patient care through individualized adaptations of treatment, procedures and unit facilities in a safe effective manner;
- be able to assess the physical and psycho-social needs of critically ill patients;
- be familiar with the use and maintenance of equipment for monitoring and managing patients in the critical care settings;
- be able to continuously observe the patient's condition and be alert to any changes which may require emergency treatment;
- be able to develop plans to improve the standard of critical care nursing;
- be able to facilitate patients and their families teaching and involvement about the care of the critically ill; and
- be able to promote knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for comprehensive care practice as competent and safe critical care nurses.

- must be a Hong Kong Registered Nurse with at least one year experience in clinical area,
- preference will be given to applicants who have completed the ECG Course.

- certificate of completion will be issued to the applicants who pass the examination with 80% attendance.
- An attendance certificate will be issued to the applicants who had > 80% attendance.

b) Non-HKSH Staff: A cheque should be crossed and made payable to
"Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital Ltd.".
Full payment must be made and no refund for withdrawal will be entertained due to any circumstances.
- Then, complete and return the registration form to Ms. Rita TAM of the Nursing Administration.
